Alan McMackin started his own litigation law practice in the late 1980’s. Over the years as business grew Alan added offices in Northumberland County (Brighton) as well as in Bowmanville. For 40 years Alan practiced Civil Litigation, Employment and Business law. Alan was joined by his son Ryan in 2014 whom he has extensively trained and continues mentoring till this day. Under Alan’s guidance Ryan has taken over the family business while Alan focuses on being a Deputy Judge and enjoying his golden years.
Alan was one of the most experienced litigators in Ontario having participated in upwards of 100 trials, appearing before the Supreme Court of Canada and servicing hundreds and hundreds of clients. Few lawyers can match Alan’s court room experience. Alan spent a great deal of time mentoring Ryan on the art of litigation and continues to do so even in retirement.
Both Alan and Ryan are aware of the importance of attention to detail. The little things can make a big difference in each case as well as in each client’s experience. Ryan believes that the 2 essential components to success are maintaining high levels of communication with each client and getting results.
In order to keep clients informed Ryan provides each client his direct number. This way you will not be stuck speaking to staff members who do not know the important details of your case.
Ryan believes that the best way to establish and strong client relationship is based on honesty. He will not try to oversell you on how your case is a slam dunk or sure win. You will be told the positives, negatives and potential hurdles in your case. With you Ryan will develop a strategy to meet your goals and needs. Ryan would rather lose a potential client than mislead them about the prospects of their case. At McMackin Law every client matters to us.
